Part of me feels like I should just jump into the good stuff and another part of me feels it’s appropriate to catch y’all up on some background. My name is Trina, I am married with a one year old little cherub and am a 1 year breast cancer survivor (TNBC diagnosed 09/2019). I have been cancer free since 3/31/2020 - Praise Be! Throughout my cancer journey I shared updates through CaringBridge - it was a great way to update multiple people without having to have the same emotional conversation over and over. That was the initial purpose of the site, but I found writing was an incredibly therapeutic outlet for me as well. I shared this thought with my therapist, and low and behold, writing for therapy is an actual thing called, wait for it...”journal therapy“...groundbreaking!
Becoming a mother and receiving a cancer diagnosis in the same 24 hours comes with a lot of emotions...shocker!! I am still questioning, processing, and understanding a myriad of things - old and new. So welcome to my little safe space for questioning everything, where no topic is off limits, where thoughts are not right or wrong, and where writing is therapy.
Well, Trina, if this is a place for your own personal therapy, how about a private journal, you say. A very fair and valid point. My thoughts? We all question many of the same things, internalize the same insecurities, and can learn from each other's struggles and perspective. So in an effort to normalize more of life‘s hardships and uncertainties, we’ll make it public.
